Information We Collect

creditcardpicker.ca is a static website. We do not operate our own databases and do not directly collect personal information such as your name, address, or financial details. The information gathered automatically is collected by the third-party services described below — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity — and, if you choose to play an embedded video, by YouTube.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors discover and use our site so that we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device (including cookies named _ga and _ga_*) and collects limited information such as the pages you view, links you click, the approximate location derived from your IP address (Google does not retain your full IP address), and basic details about your device and browser. This information is reported to us only in aggregate and is not used by us to identify you personally.

We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used. We do not currently use it to deliver personalized or remarketing advertising. Information collected by Google Analytics is processed by Google and may be stored on servers in the United States or other countries outside Canada. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

Microsoft Clarity

We also use Microsoft Clarity, a product-analytics service from Microsoft, to see how visitors interact with the site through aggregated heatmaps and session replays — recordings of a visit that can be played back. Clarity captures actions such as mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, along with the page content those actions happened on, and sets cookies (including _clck and _clsk). Clarity's default masking applies to text typed into form fields; it does not mask ordinary page text. Most of this site is published content with nothing personal on it. The one exception is our card picker quiz, where the options you choose — including an income range — render as ordinary page text that Clarity would otherwise capture. We have therefore marked the entire quiz, including its results, as masked, so those answers are redacted in your browser before anything is sent to Microsoft. This data is processed by Microsoft and may be stored outside Canada; its use is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

To be precise about what opting out does: blocking or deleting cookies stops Clarity from connecting your separate visits to each other, but it does not by itself stop a visit from being recorded. To prevent recording altogether, block scripts from clarity.msusing your browser's content-blocking settings or a browser extension.

Embedded YouTube Videos

Some pages show videos from our YouTube channel. Until you click to play, only a still thumbnail is loaded. That thumbnail is served from YouTube's image CDN (i.ytimg.com), so Google does receive a request for the image and can see your IP address — but no video player runs and no cookies are set. When you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com, the reduced-tracking domain YouTube provides so that playback does not set personalised-advertising cookies. Playback is still subject to the Google Privacy Policy. If you never press play, no YouTube cookies are set at all.

Your Choices & How to Opt Out

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking or deleting cookies through your browser settings. For Microsoft Clarity, see the note above — blocking cookies alone does not stop a recording. We set no cookies of our own, and the cookies described above exist only for the analytics purposes stated: we run no advertising and use no cross-site advertising trackers. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from using the site, though some features may behave differently.

Links to Other Sites

Our site contains links to third-party websites, such as card issuers and our appointment-booking provider. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites, which are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your province of residence, you may have the right to access or correct personal information about you, or to withdraw your consent to its collection. Because we do not maintain our own database of personal information, most such requests relate to data held by Google.
