Credit Card Picker Canada is an independent Canadian credit card research site. Written by Adnan — companion to the @CreditCardPicker YouTube channel.

What this site is for

Canadians deserve credit card advice that's built for Canada — not reworked US content that ignores our banks, our reward programs, and the ways we actually spend. This site exists to help you find the right card for your situation, understand how to earn the most from it, and know exactly how to redeem rewards for real value.

Everything here is focused on Canadian cards, Canadian loyalty programs (Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards, Scene+, Marriott Bonvoy, Amex Membership Rewards), and real Canadian spending patterns.

Who's behind this

I'm Adnan, a Canadian credit card enthusiast based in Canada. I've been researching the Canadian credit card market hands-on — applying for cards, running the earn-rate math, redeeming points for real trips, and documenting what actually works — since I launched the @CreditCardPicker YouTube channel in June 2024. The channel publishes short-form breakdowns and strategy videos; this site is where the in-depth written research lives.

If you'd like a personalized review of your setup, I also offer one-on-one consultations.

How I evaluate cards

Every card on this site is assessed against the same criteria:

  • Annual fee vs. value delivered. A $699 fee is fine if the card earns it back for your spending; a $0 fee is a trap if you leave rewards on the table.
  • Welcome bonus quality. Size, realistic spending threshold, and whether new-to-product restrictions make it accessible.
  • Everyday earn rate on Canadian spending categories — groceries, gas, transit, dining, recurring bills.
  • Rewards flexibility. Transfer partners, redemption options, blackout dates, and cpp (cents-per-point) under realistic redemptions.
  • Insurance and benefits that actually apply in Canada — travel medical, trip cancellation, purchase protection, extended warranty, mobile device coverage.
  • Premium perks worth using. Lounge access, hotel elite status, and concierge services are only credited when they translate to practical Canadian value.
  • Eligibility fit. Income requirement, credit score expectation, and which profile (student, family, traveller, business) this card is actually built for.

Editorial independence & affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you're approved for a card through one of them, I may earn a commission at no cost to you.

Commissions never influence what we recommend.Cards are ranked on merit — fee-to-value ratio, rewards earning, insurance, and fit for the reader — regardless of whether a given card has an affiliate link. Many cards reviewed here offer no affiliate commission at all; they're included because they're the right answer for specific situations.

If a card's terms change, I update the review. If I'm wrong about something, I'll correct it — you can email me directly using the contact below.
